Delhi Police arrest 14 AAP workers
The Delhi Police on Thursday said they have arrested 14 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, who were allegedly involved in the clashes outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters here on Wednesday.
According to reports, the arrests were made after a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Parliament Street police station against the AAP workers for allegedly damaging public property and obstructing public servants from discharging their duties.
The FIR includes the names of AAP leaders like Ashutosh and Shazia Ilmi. However, they were not booked.
The Delhi Police said they will submit a report on the incident to the Election Commission on Thursday.
Hours after the Election Commission announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election on Wednesday, AAP and BJP workers clashed with each other in several parts of the country including Delhi, Lucknow and Gujarat, reports said.
The clashes intensified when the news of the detention of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat reached his party workers.
