Militants kill two policemen in Kashmir

By Saleem Iqbal Qadri, Srinagar, Mar 3 : Two policemen were killed in a militant attack near the court premises in Pulwama town of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

According to reports, as the militants fired indiscriminately, the gunshots created panic in the area.

Two police officials, who were on duty on the court premises at that time, were killed on the spot. The attackers fled from the site immediately after the incident.

The whole area was cordoned off after the incident and the police started a search operation in the area to nab the militants.

The deceased cops have been identified as Farooq Ahmad and Mukhtar Ahmad.

Earlier, an assailant attacked and stabbed a police official at Pampore market of Pulwama district.

He was chased and overpowered by policemen who were on duty.

The injured police official was admitted to a hospital in Pampore. He was later referred to Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura in Srinagar.
