US military personnel death toll touches 2,174 in Afghanistan
Following the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, at least 2,174 members of the U.S. military force have reportedly died in Afghanistan as of Feb. 25. 2014.
The death count released by Associated Press is apparently one less than the Defense Department's tally.
At least 1,795 military service members have died in Afghanistan as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers, Fox News reported.
The department figures showed that at least 132 more members of the U.S. military had died in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, outside Afghanistan, out of which, 11 were the result of hostile action.
Meanwhile, total OEF casualties outside of Afghanistan were reported to be three more than the department's tally, according to AP count.
