DMK wants India to move UN resolution against Sri Lanka
DMK parliamentarians Friday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that India should move a separate resolution next month at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session in Geneva against Sri Lanka.
Led by DMK's parliamentary party leader T.R. Baalu, the parliamentarians submitted a memorandum to this effect, said a party statement.
According to the DMK, India should move a resolution in the UNHRC next month for setting up an independent international agency to investigate war crimes committed by Sri Lanka between September 2008 and May 2009.
The resolution should also stress on setting up a body to monitor human rights violations particularly against journalists and others who voice views against the Lankan government, the DMK MPs said.
