BJP, JDU slams Kejriwal over his resignation threat
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal United (JD-U) on Monday criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his statement that 'he will resign from CM's chair, if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed in the Delhi Assembly'.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Azad said, "Kejriwal has failed on all aspects. And because of this failure that he is ready to resign from the CM's chair."
Azad said that Kejriwal has failed to fulfill the promises he had made to people.
Janata Dal United MLA Shoaib Iqbal said, "A big problem has come upon Delhi government and they should try to deal with this. The burden of another election should not be placed on the people of Delhi. But Kejriwal's recent statement shows that he is not interested in running the government."
Iqbal said that he will continue to support the government and is with them on both the bills.
"By resigning from the post is not the solution to the proble. Instead he should sit down and deal with this problem patiently," he added.
Kejriwal had on Sunday said that he will resign from the Chief Ministership of Delhi if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed in the Delhi Assembly.
"If the bill is not passed then I have no wish to continue as the chief minister. I can sacrifice the chair of a chief minister 100 times to wipe out corruption from this country. To establish Swaraj in the country I can sacrifice the chair 1000 times. I haven't come here to become a chief minister; I have come here to clean corruption from this country," Kejriwal had said.
