Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest

Srinagar, Feb 8 : Senior Hurriyat leader and Tehreek-i-Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani was arrested on Saturday by the Kashmir Police here at the Srinagar Airport, as he was returning from New Delhi.
Sources said that, a large number of police personnel arrested the leader at the Airport and took him into custody along with other of Hurriyat leaders.
The spokesman of Geelani said, "The police informed us that Syed Ali Shah Geelani is under house arrest and he will not be allowed to move outside from his residence."
Meanwhile, all separatist groups have called for a protest shutdown on Feb 9 and Feb 11 to mount pressure on the state and the central governments to return the mortal remains of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru to their family.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Bhat, was hanged in Delhi's Tihar Jail on Feb 11, 1984 and Guru, was executed in the same jail on Feb 9, 2013.
Both Bhat and Guru had been buried inside the Tihar Jail in Delhi.
