Islamabad, Jan 26 : At least 20 militants were killed and 22 Pakistani soldiers injured in a gun-battle in the northwest tribal region early Thursday.
The militants launched an attack on security forces in Jogi area of Kurram agency, a militancy-plagued area along the Afghan border, Xinhua reported, citing Urdu TV channel ARY.
During the clash, at least 37 other militants were injured. Two militant hideouts were destroyed. The report said both sides used heavy weapons like rockets.
In another attack in Balochistan province, suspected gunmen from the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi outfit attacked a check-post and gunned down five troopers of the paramilitary Frontier Corps.
The pre-dawn attack was launched in Sui town, which houses the country's biggest natural gas reservoir, Xinhua reported. (IANS)
