Salim Kumar to foray into film producton

Kozhikode, Jun 22 :After winning the natinoal and Kerala State Awards for best actor in ''Adaminte Makan Abu,'' (Son of Adam), versatile Malayalam film artiste Salim Kumar today announced plans to produce a film.

Talking at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Calicut Press club here he said the yet to be titlted film under the banner of ''Laughing Villa,'' his distribution firm, would cast new faces.

Expressing his opposition to the practice of appointing film stars as heads of Kerala State Nataka and Sahitya Academies, he said he was of the view that personalites from the respective fields should be considered for the same as they could do justice to the job.

He was also against conferring awards on comedians stating this was like denigrated the gifted artists.

Salim Kumar said he had decided to sponsor trip of one Alavi Kutty of Malappuram to Mecca for Hajj pilgrimage this seasons out of the award money he received.

Its Director Salim Ahamed, who was also present, said the AMA, cleared after a legal battle, would be release in 70 centres on June 24. (UNI -Posted on / )
