Headley can't be trusted, ISI will be exonerated in 26/11 Mumbai attacks case: Malik

Islamabad, June 5: Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Coleman Headley, who testified about the Inter-Services Intelligence's role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks before a US court, "has no credibility and cannot be trusted," and the ISI will "stand exonerated", Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

"Headley's father was a Pakistani from a good family. Headley himself is a criminal and a convict... This man has no credibility and cannot be trusted," Malik told Newsweek in an interview.

When asked whether he was concerned about Headley's testimony and its repercussions for Pakistan, Malik said that the Pakistani-American should present credible evidence that can stand in a court of law to support his claim that he was being aided by the ISI.

"He's made videos of the places he was casing in Mumbai. Does he have any recordings that corroborate his claims against the so-called ISI major?" the Interior Minister questioned.

Malik insisted that Pakistan did not have any hand in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

"Our hands are clean on Mumbai, and India is aware of this. We had no leads but managed to arrest seven persons, non-state actors, with strong evidence of their involvement in the attacks. We're trying these men in our courts now," he said.

"As you've seen with Samjhota Express [blast], the ISI stands exonerated. You'll see that happen in this case, too," he added. (ANI -Posted on / )
