Weather Today in India Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) Rainfall occurred at a few places over Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep. Kanjirapally (Kottayam dt) and Chengannur (Alapuzha dt) recorded heavy rainfall of 8 and 7 centimetres respectively. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Mavelikkara (Alapuzha dt) 6, Kozhikode Airport, Aryankavu (Kollam dt) and Thalaguppa (Shimoga dt) 3 each, Haripad (Alapuzha dt), Kottayam, Munnar (Idukki dt), Tiruvalla and Konni (both Pathanamthitta dt), Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyttinkara and Varkala (both Tiruvananthapuram dt), Jagalbet, Siddapur and Yellapur (all Uttara Kannada dt), Pechipparai (Kanyakumari dt), Sivagiri (Tirunelveli dt) and Kovilankulam 2 each and Cherthala and Mancompu (both Alapuzha dt), Kumarakom (Kottayam dt), Peermade (Idukki dt), Nedumangad (Thiruvananthapuram dt), Kirwati (Uttara Kannada dt) and Afzalpur (Gulbarga dt) 1 each. On Sunday, the maximum temperature rose appreciably at one or two places over South Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose at many places over rest Coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose at a few places over rest Tamil Nadu, North Interior Karnataka, appreciably fell at one or two places over South Coastal Tamil Nadu, Telangana and changed little elsewhere over the region. They were appreciably above normal at a few places over South Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, below normal at one or two places over South Interior Karnataka and remained normal over the rest of the region. Rentachintala recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius in the region.
