Understand your frustration for electing an MLA like Munirtnam Naidu: DK Shivakumar at RR Nagar Assembly

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar criticizes BJP MLA Muniratnam Naidu, says RR Nagar residents "living in hell" due to poor leadership during Bengaluru Nadige program.

"When we look at the attitude and behaviour of MLA Muniratnam Naidu, I understand you are living in hell. - DK Shivakumar"

Bengaluru, October 13

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday expressed 'empathy' for the residents of RR Nagar Assembly constituency over their choice of MLA, BJP's Muniratnam Naidu, claiming the difficult conditions faced by people under his leadership.

Speaking during a public interaction as part of the 'Bengaluru Nadige' programme at JP Park in Mattikere, Shivakumar said, "When we look at the attitude and behaviour of MLA Muniratnam Naidu, I understand you are living in hell. I can understand your frustration for electing an MLA like this."

Expressing unhappiness over the obstruction of his public interaction programme by the followers of MLA Muniratnam Naidu, he said, "Muniratnam Naidu doesn't have patience. It is his nature to obstruct others' programmes. I know that you feel sad that you have chosen an MLA like this. Give him the right reply when the time comes," Shivakumar added.

The Deputy Chief Minister further emphasised the role of the electorate in deciding the future of their representative. "The people must decide if they would like to retain an MLA like Muniratnam Naidu. I am not going to talk about it. I am aware of the respect that needs to be given to a people's representative, but neither victory nor loss is permanent in politics," he stated.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar participated in 'Bengaluru Nadige', a walk for Bengaluru, at JP Park in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly constituency on Sunday.

The objective of 'Bengaluru Nadige' was to respond to the needs of citizens within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits.

Visuals showed DK Shivakumar interacting with citizens and listening to their problems.

In a similar initiative on Saturday, responding to public requests, free toilets, gym facilities, and doctors and ambulance services, the Deputy CM said that the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) announced Rs 10 crore for the development of Lalbagh.

"We are committed to Lalbagh's protection! The GBA has announced a grant of Rs 10 crore for the development of Lalbagh. In response to public requests, free toilets, gym facilities, and doctors and ambulance services will be provided here from morning to evening. Additionally, it has been decided to provide financial support for developing tree parks in other parts of Bengaluru on the model of Lalbagh," he wrote on X.

He added that only half an acre of area will be used for the entry-exit of the tunnel road, to ensure no harm to the Lalbagh Garden.

While I appreciate DK Shivakumar's concern, this sounds like typical political mudslinging. Instead of criticizing the opposition MLA, why doesn't he focus on delivering the development projects he's promising? Actions speak louder than words! 🤔

The Bengaluru Nadige initiative is actually quite good. At least someone is listening to our problems. The free toilets and ambulance services will really help common people. Hope they deliver on these promises! 👍

I've been living in RR Nagar for 15 years and the infrastructure has really deteriorated in the last few years. Water problems, bad roads, poor drainage - it's frustrating. Maybe we do need to reconsider our choice next election.

The Rs 10 crore for Lalbagh development is a welcome move. Bengaluru needs to preserve its green spaces. But I hope this isn't just an election gimmick. We've seen many announcements that never materialize.

Why can't politicians work together for Bengaluru's development? Instead of blaming each other, they should focus on solving the city's real problems - traffic, pollution, and infrastructure. We citizens suffer while they play politics. 😠
