Renowned Kannada film actor Sudeep Kichcha performed the Pind Daan ritual in Gaya on Monday for his late mother. His mother had passed away a year ago, and the actor had been wishing to fulfil this sacred duty ever since, something he was finally able to complete now.
After performing the rituals, Sudeep visited the Vishnupad Temple and offered prayers. He said, "When I saw the holy feet of Lord Vishnu, I felt an incredible sense of inner peace. I had heard that performing Pind Daan in Gaya helps the departed soul attain salvation, and that's why I came here." He was accompanied by his wife and nephew during the rituals.
The entire ceremony was conducted with proper Vedic rituals by the descendant priests of Rai Bahadur Gopal Lal Barik. The Pind Daan rituals lasted for around three hours. Acharya Vinod, who performed the ceremony, mentioned that the actor was quite emotional and even performed a special offering (Tarpan) in his mother's name.
Speaking to the media, Sudeep shared that he is currently working on multiple film projects and that a major release is expected soon. Smiling, he said, "I don't even remember when I last visited Bihar... but this is my first visit to Gaya. The sanctity and atmosphere of this place have truly touched my heart." The arrival of this popular film star in Gaya not only became a topic of conversation among the locals but also beautifully reflected the confluence of religious faith and cinematic charm.
Talking about the actor, he is known as one of the biggest superstars of the Kannada film industry. He is best known for movies like "Eega", "Vikrant Rona", "Pailwaan" and others.
Apart from acting, Kichcha is also a successful director, producer and television host.

As someone from Bihar, I'm so happy to see celebrities visiting our holy places. Gaya has been a spiritual center for centuries and it's wonderful when public figures highlight our cultural heritage. Hope more people get inspired to visit! 🕉ï¸
While I respect his religious sentiments, I wish celebrities would be more discreet about such personal rituals. The media coverage makes it feel more like a publicity event than a genuine spiritual experience.
My family performed Pind Daan for my grandfather last year in Gaya. Reading about Sudeep's experience brought back all those emotions. The Vishnupad Temple has such powerful energy - you can literally feel the divine presence there. May his mother's soul rest in peace.
It's heartwarming to see how Indian traditions bring comfort across all communities. Whether you're a superstar or common person, the need to honor our departed loved ones is universal. Beautiful tradition! â¤ï¸
Sudeep has always been grounded despite his stardom. Performing Pind Daan shows he hasn't forgotten his roots and values. More power to him! Meanwhile, excited for his upcoming film projects! 🎬
