"I strongly condemn any sign of violence of any kind - Benjamin Netanyahu"

Tel Aviv, June 8

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a strong condemnation Saturday night following damage to a window at Israel's Supreme Court building in Jerusalem, discovered late Thursday night.

"I strongly condemn any sign of violence of any kind, certainly against representatives of the authorities," Netanyahu said. "I call on public leaders and law enforcement to condemn and act firmly against all expressions of violence and incitement--without exception."

The incident, which is under investigation by police and the Shin Bet, is believed to have been caused by an air gun or slingshot during a right-wing protest nearby.

Judicial authorities described the attack as an "unprecedented and troubling" violation, while organizers of the protest accused the courts of attempting to delegitimize their movement. (ANI/TPS)

Violence against judiciary is unacceptable anywhere in the world. India has also seen protests turn violent sometimes - we must learn from such incidents. Hope Israeli authorities handle this sensitively while maintaining rule of law.

Interesting to see how different democracies handle judicial protests. In India, we've had our share of controversies regarding judiciary vs executive. Hope Israel resolves this peacefully 🤞

Strong words from Netanyahu but actions matter more. When our own courts face criticism in India, we expect balanced responses too. Judiciary must remain independent everywhere.

This reminds me of the farmer protests near Delhi. Peaceful protests are fine but damaging property crosses the line. Our Supreme Court also faces pressure sometimes - it's a tough balance between democracy and order.

While condemning violence is good, leaders should also address why people are so angry at courts. In India too, some feel judiciary is out of touch. Maybe time for judicial reforms globally?

As an Indian watching this, I feel every country faces these tensions between government, courts and people. The key is resolving differences through dialogue, not vandalism. Hope Israel finds that path 🇮🇳✌️
