PM Modi leads crucial Union Council meeting days before third-term anniversary, following decisive military response to Pakistan

"Chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers earlier this evening - PM Narendra Modi"

New Delhi, June 5

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Wednesday in the national capital.

This was the first meeting of Council of Ministers after Operation Sindoor and was held days before Modi 3.0 government completes its first year in office on June 9.

"Chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers earlier this evening," PM Modi said in a post on X.

India launched Operation Sindoor as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists.

India also effectively responded to subsequent Pakistani aggression and pounded its airbases.

India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action after Pakistan's DGMO called his Indian counterpart on May 10.

Strong leadership shown by PM Modi in handling the Pahalgam attack aftermath. Operation Sindoor sent a clear message that India won't tolerate terrorism. Hope the ministers' meeting focuses on long-term security solutions for our borders. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

While I appreciate the strong response to Pakistan, I hope the Council also discussed rehabilitation for Pahalgam victims' families. Military action is important but so is showing compassion to our own people affected by terrorism.

One year of Modi 3.0 and our foreign policy has been strong but unpredictable. Operation Sindoor was necessary, but we need consistent diplomacy too. Can't keep having military escalations every few months - bad for economy and soldiers' lives.

Proud of our armed forces! 👏 But ministers should also discuss better protection for civilians in border areas. My cousin in Jammu says people live in constant fear. More bunkers, early warning systems needed.

Hope they reviewed the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan properly. Last time after such agreements, infiltration attempts increased within months. We need permanent solutions, not temporary peace.

First year of Modi 3.0 has been eventful! From G20 success to strong anti-terror actions. But I wish media would focus more on development meetings rather than just security ones. What about jobs, education reforms?
