UP Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana lauds MLAs for constructive 24-hour Vision 2047 debate, while opposition raises concerns over future focus.

"A very positive discussion has taken place – Satish Mahana"

Lucknow, August 14

Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on Thursday expressed satisfaction with the conduct of MLAs in the assembly and lauded them for raising relevant issues during the 24-hour debate to outline a strategic plan for the state's growth.

Speaking with ANI, Speaker Satish Mahana said, "I am pleased that our members are raising relevant issues in the Assembly for the benefit of the public and also addressing public concerns. The government is presenting what it has done for the public and the vision it has set. The opposition has also given some very positive suggestions. A very positive discussion has taken place."

A 24-hour discussion on the 'Vision Document 2047' began on Wednesday in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, with the state government reaffirming its goal of making Uttar Pradesh the most developed state in the country by 2047, targeting zero poverty, world-class infrastructure, and advanced technology.

Earlier in the day, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the ruling party has presented the state government's achievements during the session and assured that India and UP will realise its goal to become a developed nation by 2047.

"We have presented our achievements before the public. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, when India celebrates its 100th year of independence, it will be established as a developed nation and Uttar Pradesh as a fully developed state. We are moving forward on this path," Brajesh Pathak said.

State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh said that the discussion will result in the formation of a committee and a booklet to prepare a roadmap for 2047, outlining the strategy to achieve the goal of a developed state.

"A booklet will be created from the discussions, and a committee will be formed to deliberate. Following their deliberations, a roadmap for 2047 will be prepared, outlining the timeline and approach for achieving this goal. The Finance Minister has given this responsibility to the Chief Minister. Discussions are ongoing about where we will take the country by 2047," he said.

However, Congress leader Aradhna Singh said that the discussion is more focused on listing the "shortcomings" of the previous government rather than outlining a vision for 2047.

"The way the government's side, whether ministers or their members, is being presented, they are only listing the shortcomings of previous governments or talking about their current schemes; nowhere is their vision for the future visible," she said.

The Congress leader has a point - vision documents shouldn't become platforms for blaming previous governments. Let's see concrete plans for education and healthcare infrastructure.

24-hour session sounds impressive, but will it translate to action? UP needs to focus on basic issues first - better roads, electricity, and employment generation.

As a young professional from Lucknow, I'm excited about the tech focus! But please don't forget about women's safety and digital literacy in rural areas. 💻

Good initiative but execution is key. Previous vision documents have remained on paper. Hope this time they involve grassroots workers and local bodies in planning.

Zero poverty by 2047? Ambitious target! They should start with improving the PDS system and creating more skilled jobs in eastern UP districts.
