Do people want such a rule to continue: AIADMK' Edappadi Palaniswami raises questions on work done by DMK

AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami slams DMK for halting welfare schemes and questions if people want their rule to continue at a massive Tiruchirappalli public meeting.

"Do the people want such a rule to continue? - Edappadi K. Palaniswami"

Tiruchirappalli, August 25

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami praising the work done by his party raised questions on the work done by the DMK party.

Addressing a massive public gathering at Tiruchirappalli, Palaniswami stated, "Even when not in power, AIADMK has always pressed the Union Government for projects that benefit the people. If the Nadanthai Vazhi Cauvery project announced under AIADMK had been implemented, river pollution could have been prevented. The cattle park project in Thalaivasal, too, has been shelved by the DMK. Most farmer welfare schemes introduced by AIADMK have been blocked. DMK has not implemented a single new scheme it promised before coming to power... In AIADMK's rule, people across all sections, including the elderly, benefited. But under DMK, it is always the Karunanidhi family that gains power and profit, whether at the state or central level. Do the people want such a rule to continue?"

A day earlier, drivers of the "108" emergency ambulance service in the state submitted a memorandum demanding action against the AIADMK leader.

The drivers approached the Sivagangai Superintendent of Police and submitted a petition for a case to be registered over Palaniswami's recent remarks at a public meeting in Vellore.

At the meeting, Palaniswami earlier alleged that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was deliberately deploying 108 ambulances during AIADMK events to create traffic congestion. He has also been accused of making remarks that intimidated an ambulance driver.

Following this, the ambulance staff sought police intervention, urging that appropriate action be initiated against the AIADMK leader.

Earlier on Thursday, Palaniswami took a veiled dig at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, asserting that AIADMK is the only party capable of defeating the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Both parties need to focus on development rather than blaming each other. The ambulance driver incident shows how politics is affecting essential services. Very disappointing.

AIADMK had 10 years to implement these projects. Why blame DMK now? Political parties should complete what they start instead of making empty promises every election.

The cattle park project in Thalaivasal would have helped so many farmers. DMK stopping it shows they don't care about rural development. 😠

As an observer, Tamil Nadu politics seems stuck in the same cycle. Both parties need to move beyond family politics and focus on governance. The people deserve better.

EPS makes valid points about halted projects, but intimidating ambulance drivers is unacceptable. Public servants should never be targeted for political gains.
