We only believe in ideology-based equation: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor

Jan Suraaj founder Kishor urges Hindu-Muslim unity under Gandhi-Ambedkar-Lohia ideology to challenge BJP, as Rahul Gandhi prepares Bihar voter rights yatra.

"We only believe in one equation and that is an ideology-based equation... More than half of Hindus are not with BJP ideologically. – Prashant Kishor"

Patna, August 16

Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Saturday emphasised the need for an "ideology-driven political equation" instead of MY-equation (Muslims-Yadavs) to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.

Speaking to reporters, the Jan Suraaj founder proposed a social-political alliance between Hindus who believe in the ideology of Gandhi, Jayaprakash Narayan, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Ram Manohar Lohia, and Muslims to defeat the BJP.

"We only believe in one equation and that is an ideology-based equation... More than half of the Hindus in this country are not with the BJP on the basis of ideology. Jan Suraaj's formula is not MY-formula, Jan Suraaj's formula is that all Hindus who believe in the ideology of Gandhi, Jayaprakash Narayan, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia should form a social-political alliance with Muslims, and if that happens, we will defeat the BJP badly," Prashant Kishor said.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is set to launch 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' across Bihar, which will cover more than 20 districts, spanning 1,300 kilometres over 16 days.

The Voter Adhikaar Yatra is a campaign led by Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders to raise awareness about voter rights and protest against alleged "vote theft" and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

In a social media post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "'16 days 20+ districts 1,300+ km We are coming among the people with the Voter Adhikaar Yatra. This is the fight to protect the most fundamental democratic right - 'one person, one vote.' Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution."

The announcement comes amid ongoing protests by the INDIA bloc leaders against the alleged "vote chori" (vote theft) and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Good intentions but impractical. In Bihar, caste and community identities run deep. You can't wish them away with idealistic talk. Ground reality is different from seminar room discussions.

Why is Rahul Gandhi doing yatra now? Elections are months away. Feels like another photo-op while BJP is working on ground. INDIA bloc needs better strategy than just protests.

As a young voter, I'm tired of old formulas. PK's approach is refreshing! We need leaders who talk about development, jobs and education - not just caste arithmetic. Youth want real change!

Vote theft allegations need proper investigation. EC should address these concerns transparently. Democracy suffers when people lose faith in electoral process.

Interesting to see Prashant Kishor positioning himself as an ideologue now. Wasn't he the master strategist behind many caste-based campaigns earlier? Seems like convenient change of stance.
