Timber markets are always a fire hazard, especially in the dry winter. The municipal corporation needs to conduct regular safety audits and ensure proper spacing between shops. This is a wake-up call for Bhopal.

Using 30 water tankers and 16+ fire tenders... that must have been a terrifying sight. Hats off to the firefighters who worked through the night. Hope the affected shop owners get some compensation or aid from the government.

While the response was good, we must ask why it took so many resources. Were fire safety norms being followed? Were there adequate water hydrants? Authorities should investigate the cause thoroughly, not just give statements.

My cousin has a shop nearby. The entire area was filled with smoke. It's a miracle it happened early morning when the market was empty. Feel so bad for the business owners who have lost everything right before the new year.
