Ujjain, December 29

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 12 development works and projects worth approximately Rs 129 crore in Ujjain district on Monday.

CM Yadav inaugurated three key youth-focused initiatives on the occasion. He launched Project Swadhyay (Coding for All), under which students will be introduced to coding and digital thinking from an early age.

The CM also launched the UtkarshUjjain.com portal, an integrated digital platform for learning, guidance, and career opportunities for youth.

Additionally, the Kaushal Setu industry-led skill development program was launched to bridge the gap between education and industry, equipping youth with skills aligned with real-world industry needs.

Addressing the programme held at Nanakheda Stadium in Ujjain, the Chief Minister said, "These initiatives will ensure that Ujjain's youth are not only limited to academic degrees but also are prepared to be job-ready, startup-ready and future-ready."

CM Yadav laid the foundation stone for 11 projects worth Rs 124 crore in Ujjain city as part of urban development. These include road widening works costing around Rs 102 crore, development and expansion of Kapila Gaushala with a capacity of 3,000 cattle at a cost of Rs 9.50 crore, development works in the EWS colony in the Panwasa area worth Rs 8.75 crore, construction of a sports complex in Kanipura at a cost of Rs 3.47 crore, and the construction of a new Janpad Panchayat building worth nearly Rs 5 crore.

Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted that works worth Rs 45 crore were already underway. He also announced that the old hockey stadium in Ujjain would be upgraded with modern astroturf, enabling the city to host international hockey matches in the future.

Speaking about the upcoming Simhastha 2028 religious mela to be held in Ujjain, CM Yadav said, "Simhastha is the world's largest religious fair and a wonderful confluence of Indian faith, culture, spirituality, and tourism. The preparations for the upcoming Simhastha have already begun."

Highlighting the Mahakaleshwar temple, the CM says that all devotees visiting Ujjain to offer prayers at Baba Mahakaleshwar are welcome in the city. He noted that over five lakh devotees had offered prayers at the Mahakal temple in the past three to four days alone.

He further announced that a Shani Lok would be constructed in Ujjain for Rs 140 crore, which is expected to give the city a new identity in the fields of faith and tourism. He added that four-lane roads were being developed in all directions to improve connectivity with other cities, and that 12 to 13 new bridges were being constructed to ease movement.

Rs 129 crore sounds impressive, but I really hope the money is used efficiently. Road widening is needed, but what about proper drainage and maintenance? We've seen many projects where the quality is poor after a year. The skill development program is a positive move though.

As someone from Ujjain, the development of Kapila Gaushala and the new sports complex are much appreciated. The city needs these facilities. Jai Mahakal! Hoping the new bridges actually reduce the traffic jams during peak hours.

The integrated digital portal 'UtkarshUjjain.com' is a fantastic idea if executed well. Centralizing learning and career guidance can be a game-changer for students in smaller cities. The key will be keeping the content updated and accessible.

Shani Lok for 140 crore? While faith tourism is important, I hope the focus on massive religious structures doesn't overshadow basic civic amenities like water supply and waste management for residents. A balanced approach is needed.

The upgrade to the hockey stadium with astroturf is excellent news! It will inspire young athletes and put Ujjain on the sports map. More power to our players. Along with the sports complex, this creates a good ecosystem.
