After JMM's withdrawal from Bihar polls, Congress' Rakesh Sinha urges top Mahagathbandhan leaders to give this a thought

Congress leader Rakesh Sinha calls for Mahagathbandhan leaders to discuss JMM's Bihar election exit amid allegations of political cunning from alliance partners.

"The political cunning of the leading party in the Bihar alliance has harmed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha - Sudivya Kumar"

Ranchi, October 21

Congress leader Rakesh Sinha on Tuesday urged the top Mahagathbandhan leaders to discuss the reason behind the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) withdrawal from the Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking to ANI, Sinha stressed that there should not be any miscommunication between the parties of the alliance.

"Top leaders in the alliance should give this a thought as to why JMM dropped out... There should not be any miscommunication between the parties in the alliance," he said.

This comes after, on October 20, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced its withdrawal from the Mahagathbandhan alliance after an earlier declaration to contest six seats independently.

Jharkhand Minister and party leader Sudivya Kumar made the announcement in Giridih. He stated that the "political cunning" of the leading party in the Bihar alliance has harmed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and shattered the party's aspiration to contest the Bihar polls.

"With great regret, JMM is compelled to state that the party will not be participating in this election. The political cunning of the leading party in the Bihar alliance has harmed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. It has shattered our aspiration to contest the elections in Bihar," Sudivya Kuma told reporters.

Earlier today, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqv reacted sharply to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's (JMM) decision to withdraw from the Bihar Assembly elections, saying the move exposes the weaknesses within the Mahagathbandhan alliance.

Speaking to ANI, Naqvi said, "Mahagathbandhan has been completely exposed and failed; parties are forfeiting ground before the election. Their personal ambitions have overshadowed the alliance's collective goals; such people do eventually meet their ill fate."

The 2025 Bihar Elections will have the main contest between the National Democratic Alliance and the Mahagathbandhan.

NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

The Mahagathbandhan led by Rashtriya Janata Dal includes the Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani's Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Additionally, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has also staked claims on all 243 seats of the state.

Polling in the Bihar 2025 elections is scheduled to take place on November 6 and 11, respectively, while the results will be declared on November 14.

Rakesh Sinha is absolutely right. Communication gaps can destroy any alliance. In Bihar politics, where every seat matters, such misunderstandings can cost them dearly. Hope they resolve this before it's too late.

JMM's decision makes sense from their perspective. Why should they compromise their identity and interests? Regional parties often get sidelined in these big alliances. Better to focus on Jharkhand where they have strong presence.

As an observer of Indian politics, I must say this exposes the fundamental weakness of opposition unity. Personal ambitions over collective goals - this has been the story of Indian opposition for years now. NDA seems much more disciplined.

"Political cunning" - strong words from JMM leader. This shows the trust deficit in the alliance. In Bihar's complex political landscape, such public accusations don't help anyone. Both sides should handle this maturely.

Honestly, all this political drama just confuses common voters like me. We want development, not these constant alliance breakups and formations. Hope whichever alliance wins focuses on Bihar's progress rather than political games. 🙏
