The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deakin University, Australia, during the ongoing Waves Bazaar at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025.
The MoU was signed under the Australia-India Creative Collaboration initiative in association with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
The MoU reflects the shared vision of IICT and Deakin University to advance innovation, academic excellence, and cross-disciplinary engagement in creative and technology-led education.
Vishwas Deoskar, CEO, IICT, said, "This collaboration strengthens our mission to nurture global talent and push the boundaries of immersive and interactive media education."
Under the agreement, both "institutions will collaborate on academic programs, training, and research in creative and applied technologies, including workshops and masterclasses, while promoting student and faculty mobility and working with industry to ensure real-world impact."
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, IICT also hosted a dedicated booth at Waves Bazaar, where delegates were seen engaging in interactive activities and learning more about the institution's innovative programs and initiatives.

As someone working in the animation industry, I'm excited about the potential of this partnership. India needs more such tie-ups to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. Hope this leads to meaningful skill development programs.
While the MoU sounds promising, I hope this isn't just another paperwork exercise. We've seen many such agreements that don't translate into actual benefits for students. The real test will be in implementation and sustained engagement.
The Australia-India collaboration in creative fields is growing so well! As an Australian student who visited India last year, I can see how much both countries can learn from each other's creative approaches. Looking forward to seeing the outcomes!
IFFI becoming a platform for such academic partnerships is brilliant! Goa is the perfect setting for creative collaborations. The interactive booth at Waves Bazaar sounds like a great way to engage young talent. More power to such initiatives! ✨
Student and faculty mobility programs mentioned here could be game-changing. Indian students often struggle with international exposure due to financial constraints. Hope this partnership includes scholarship opportunities for deserving candidates.
