Ben Affleck reveals the real reason he hated wearing the Batsuit

Ben Affleck reveals the Batsuit was unbearably hot and uncomfortable during his time as Batman, calling it "horrendous to wear."

"They're hot for one thing. They don't breathe. They're made to look the way they want them to look. – Ben Affleck"

Washington, April 18

Ben Affleck has shared his candid thoughts about wearing the Batsuit during his tenure as Batman in the DC Extended Universe.

As per Variety, in a recent interview, Affleck revealed that the suits were "horrendous to wear" due to their lack of breathability and extreme heat.

Affleck described the experience of wearing the Batsuit as "difficult" and "exhausting," and said, "They're hot for one thing. They don't breathe. They're made to look the way they want them to look. There's no thought put into the human being," as quoted by Variety.

He added that the suits made him sweat profusely, making it challenging to feel heroic while wearing them.

Affleck jokingly suggested that his fellow Batmen, Christian Bale and Robert Pattinson, might have been better suited to handle the physical demands of the suit.

Affleck played Batman in several films, including 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and 'Justice League.'

The Batsuit has faced criticism before, with director Tim Burton previously expressing his disapproval of the "Batnipple" suit worn by George Clooney in "Batman and Robin."

I never thought about how uncomfortable those suits must be! Makes you appreciate the actors' dedication even more. Affleck was a great Batman despite the sweaty struggles 😅

Honestly, I think Affleck's complaints are valid but a bit whiny? These are multi-million dollar productions - surely they could've made some comfort adjustments if it was that bad.

The Batnipple suit was ridiculous, but at least it probably had better ventilation! 🤣 Still can't believe that design got approved. Affleck's suit looked amazing though - form over function I guess.

This explains why his fight scenes sometimes looked a bit stiff! Can't blame him if he was basically cooking inside that suit. Major props to all superhero actors - it's not as glamorous as it seems.

I worked in costume design for TV - these superhero suits are no joke. They're heavy, restrictive, and yes, incredibly hot. Actors deserve hazard pay just for wearing them through 12-hour shooting days!

His self-deprecating humor about Bale and Pattinson handling it better is so on brand for Affleck 😂 Love that he can laugh about it now. Still my favorite live-action Batman!
