Ahan Shetty details his strategic high-protein diet and intense training to achieve an authentic soldier's physique for his role in the upcoming war film 'Border 2'.

"I had to lean out for this film - lost around 5 kilos to get the right look for a soldier. - Ahan Shetty"

Mumbai, Dec 23

Ahan Shetty has opened up about the intense physical transformation he underwent for his role in “Border 2.”

In an exclusive quote shared with IANS, the actor revealed that he shed nearly 5 kilos to achieve a lean, battle-ready physique suited for a soldier. To meet the demands of the role, Ahan followed a strictly planned diet focused on high protein, healthy fats, and clean eating, while significantly cutting down on carbs. Revealing his diet strategy for “Border 2,” Shetty stated, “I had to lean out for this film - lost around 5 kilos to get the right look for a soldier. The diet was strategically designed: high protein and healthy fats to maintain muscle mass and energy, while I cut down on carbs to shed the excess weight.”

“It was about precision - every meal timed around training and shoot schedules. Clean eating throughout, no cheat days during the shoot. Soldiers are lean, functional, operationally ready. I wanted that same credibility and authenticity in every frame.”

The ‘Tadap’ actor further spoke about his experience of filming at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, Pune. He called it both physically taxing and profoundly transformative. Ahan said training and shooting at an actual military institution reshaped his approach to the role.

In “Border 2,” Ahan Shetty will be portraying a Navy officer. The first-look poster released by the makers showcased the actor in the midst of a battlefield, with blood smeared across his face. Armed with a tank gun, he was seen fully prepared for combat.

Helmed by Anurag Singh, the upcoming war drama features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. Backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, “Border 2” is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.

The physical transformation is impressive, but I hope the film's story does justice to the real sacrifices of our armed forces. The cast looks promising!

Only 5 kilos? For a soldier's role, I expected a more drastic change. But kudos for the effort and clean eating discipline. No cheat days during shoot is tough! 💪

The original Border is a classic. Hope this sequel lives up to the legacy. Training at the actual NDA is a big plus for authenticity. Jai Hind!

Interesting to see the focus on a "lean, functional" physique rather than just bulk. Shows a better understanding of a soldier's real physical demands. Smart approach.

As someone trying to lose weight, this diet strategy is helpful! High protein, healthy fats, cut carbs... sounds effective. But his trainers and chefs make it easier than for us common people 😅
