"Will be able to do lot of work": Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi inaugurates railway platform shelter; flags off RRT vehicle in Keralam
Thiruvananthapuram, June 26
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday stated that she has held discussions with all stakeholders on development plans for her constituency and expressed hope that pending projects in Wayanad will be cleared now.
"For development of Wayanad, I have held discussions with all concerned, and now that we have a govt here, we are hopeful that we will be able to do a lot of work," Gandhi said while speaking to the reporters.
She cited the medical college, tribal university, and pending road projects as key works that were held up by the previous government.
"The medical college, tribal university, the pending road projects -- many projects which were held up by the last govt, which we want to clear. We are hopeful," she added.
The Congress MP inaugurated a newly constructed railway platform shelter at the Thuvvur railway station, marking a significant step toward improving passenger amenities in the region.
Funded under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) through a grant sanctioned by former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, the Rs 28 lakh infrastructure project aims to provide much-needed relief to commuters from harsh weather conditions.
The new shelter is expected to provide improved protection and comfort for passengers waiting on the platform, enhancing basic infrastructure and commuter convenience at the station.
The inauguration was attended by public representatives, railway officials, and residents.
Earlier in the day, MP Vadra flagged off a new Rapid Response Team (RRT) vehicle at the Nilambur Divisional Forest Office, aimed at bolstering the Forest Department's emergency preparedness.
The RRT vehicle has been deployed to strengthen the Forest Department's emergency response, particularly in handling human-wildlife conflict situations and ensuring faster field operations.
Forest Department officials, public representatives, and local dignitaries attended the flag-off ceremony.

Finally some action! That Thuvvur station shelter was a joke for years - passengers used to get drenched in monsoon. Rs 28 lakh is not a huge amount for MPLADS but at least it's being used properly. But Congress should also focus on why these projects were delayed by their own previous government in Kerala. 🤔
I'm an NRI from Kerala living in Canada. It's heartening to see politicians actually visiting rural stations and forest offices. The RRT vehicle for human-wildlife conflict is especially timely - we hear so many stories from relatives about elephants and leopards entering villages. Practical governance at last.
Priyanka ji should clarify what she means by 'previous government' holding up projects. The previous LDF government in Kerala also had developmental priorities. Let's not make everything political. But yes, the platform shelter is a welcome addition - basic amenities like this shouldn't be delayed for years. 🙏
As someone who lived in Wayanad for 3 years, I'm genuinely happy about this. The medical college will save lives - people used to travel 4-5 hours for serious treatment. And the tribal university could be life-changing for Adivasi youth. But Priyanka Gandhi needs to visit more often, not just for inaugurations. Actions speak louder.
Rs 28 lakh for a platform shelter? That's steep. MPLADS funds should be audited more strictly. But I appreciate the RRT vehicle - forest officials in Nilambur really need better equipment for dealing with wild animals. Let's hope the MP follows through on the bigger promises now
