"The strength, readiness, dedication, and discipline shown by the women recruits during constable training are commendable. - CM Yogi Adityanath"

Lucknow, April 26

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday attended the passing out parade ceremony in Lucknow for the constables of the first-ever batch of 60,244 Constable Civil Police Direct Recruitment Year-2025. In addition to overseeing the parade, the Chief Minister presented awards to those constables who excelled in various categories.

Addressing the passing-out parade ceremony, CM Yogi Adityanath said, "The strength, readiness, dedication, and discipline shown by the women recruits during constable training are commendable. Discipline and teamwork are the greatest strengths, and the spirit of contributing the very best to the nation is the most important aspect of a uniformed force. The more one sweats during training, the less likely there will be a need for bloodshed later in life."

He also congratulated the women constables on completing rigorous training with dedication and discipline and expressed confidence that the newly appointed constables would uphold the proud traditions of the UP Police with sincerity, honesty, and a strong sense of duty.

He emphasised that the law must be as strict as possible for criminals while remaining sensitive towards citizens.

The passing-out parades were organised simultaneously at 10 police training institutions, police lines in 73 districts, 29 PAC battalions, and 112 recruit training centres across the state.

It was on June 15, 2025, that Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to 60,244 candidates at the Defence Expo Ground in Lucknow. Their training began on July 21.

The UP CM lamented the lack of basic facilities for the state police force in previous decades and reiterated his government's pledge to enhance and uplift working conditions for them.

CM Yogi said, "Before 2017, police barracks were in poor condition, often makeshift or tin-roofed. Now, high-rise residential and barrack facilities have been developed in 55 districts. Training centres have also been upgraded. Along with basic training, professional training is provided, and the UP Police Training Portal has been launched. Physical training has been modernised with a Smart PT programme. Outdoor training now uses modern INSAS and SLR rifles instead of older .303 rifles."

"Over 2.18 lakh police personnel have been recruited and more than one lakh promoted," he added.

CM Yogi further said, "UP ATS personnel are being trained in line with the standards of the NIA and international agencies. Police personnel are also receiving training in practical efficiency and soft skills. Cyber police stations have been established in all 75 districts, with specialised training to tackle modern cybercrime. The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences has been established in Lucknow to train personnel in scientific investigation techniques."

CM Yogi Adityanath stated that the UP Police have become a model and "smart" force, contributing to public safety and convenience. He said riots no longer occur in the state, parallel power structures have ended, and illegal extortion has been curbed. There is now fear among criminals and high morale within the police force.

The emphasis on women constables is heartening. For too long, police forces in India were male-dominated. Seeing women lead with discipline and strength sends a powerful message. 👩‍✈️

I'm happy about the recruitment but the statement "riots no longer occur in UP" seems like an exaggeration. Crime data should speak for itself. Still, better infrastructure for police is long overdue.

"More sweat in training, less bloodshed later" - that's a gem. UP Police badly needed modernization. Cyber police stations in all districts is a great step. Now need to ensure these constables aren't overworked or politicized.

Yogi ji is walking the talk on police reform. From tin-roof barracks to high-rise facilities, INSAS rifles replacing .303s, and forensic institutes - this is real change. The opposition should take notes.

One concern though - 60,000 constables is huge but so is UP's population and crime rate. Need to see if this actually reduces response times and improves community policing. Let results speak. Still, congratulations to all new recruits!

Law must be strict on criminals but sensitive towards citizens - absolutely right.
