Himachal Governor Welcomes Commercial LPG Price Cut, Hopes for Public Benefit

Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta welcomed the reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices by oil marketing companies from July 1. The price cut of ₹174 to ₹183.50 on 19-kg cylinders is expected to provide significant relief to hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. Governor Gupta expressed hope that such government decisions ultimately benefit all citizens, quoting the Sanskrit phrase 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah'. However, domestic LPG consumers saw no price relief this month.

Commercial LPG cylinder price cut should ultimately benefit every citizen: Himachal Governor Kavinder Gupta

Shimla, July 1

Welcoming the reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices, Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said the benefits of such government decisions should ultimately reach the common people, expressing hope that every citizen receives economic relief.

From July 1, oil marketing companies have reduced the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹174 to ₹183.50, providing significant relief to commercial consumers, including hotels, restaurants, dhabas and other business establishments. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders.

Reacting to the price cut, Governor Kavinder Gupta said that measures aimed at easing the financial burden should eventually benefit the public at large.

"Our prayer is that everyone should remain happy and prosperous. As I always say, 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah': may all people be happy. We pray for the prosperity and well-being of the entire world. As conditions improve and positive changes take place, every individual should benefit from such decisions," Governor Kavinder Gupta said.

He expressed hope that similar initiatives in the future would extend economic relief to all sections of society and contribute to the overall welfare of the people.

The reduction in commercial LPG prices is expected to lower operational costs for businesses that rely heavily on commercial cooking gas, particularly in the hospitality and food service sectors. Industry stakeholders believe the move could help ease input costs, although domestic LPG consumers have not received any price relief this month.

Finally some relief for small business owners! Our local chaiwala and dhaba owners have been really struggling with rising costs. Hope this translates into lower prices for roti and chai for us customers. 😊

I appreciate the sentiment "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" but actions speak louder than words. Domestic LPG prices haven't moved in months while inflation keeps hitting households. The government should extend this relief to every home, not just commercial establishments.

As a small hotel owner in Shimla, this is very welcome! ₹180 per cylinder saving means about ₹3000-4000 extra per month for us. Will definitely pass some benefit to customers. Let's see if other states follow Himachal's lead.

Good intention but poorly timed. Summer is peak season for hotels in Himachal, and they needed this relief. But I agree with others - domestic consumers need attention too. Our monthly LPG bill is already ₹1100+ for a 14.2kg cylinder.

The Governor's message "sarve bhavantu sukhinah" reflects our ancient wisdom. But true happiness comes when the poorest benefit too. My suggestion: use savings from commercial LPG to subsidize domestic cylinders for BPL families. That would be real "sabka saath, sabka vikas."
