Under PM Modi's visionary leadership, Tripura committed to transparent and accountable governance: CM
"I reaffirm our rock-solid resolve to forge a stronger, more prosperous, and forward-looking Tripura. - CM Manik Saha"

Agartala, Jan 21

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government remains firmly committed to ensuring transparent, accountable and people-centric governance.

The Chief Minister said that PM Modi's dynamism and farsighted approach have ushered in a phase of turbo-charged development and genuine empowerment across the state, particularly for youth, women and Janjati (tribal) communities, while upholding India's timeless values and cultural ethos.

Addressing the main function, organised on the occasion of the statehood day at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here, Saha said that the state strides confidently towards the vision of a new Tripura-a vibrant tapestry woven from inclusive development, rich cultural heritage, empowered youth, world-class infrastructure, and a self-reliant tomorrow.

"I reaffirm our rock-solid resolve to forge a stronger, more prosperous, and forward-looking Tripura," he told the gathering. Highlighting the impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Act East Policy, CM Saha said that Tripura and the entire Northeastern region are today moving forward on multiple fronts of development, supported by improved connectivity and infrastructure.

He said that since the BJP government assumed office in Tripura in 2018, the state has emerged as one of the leading states in the country across key sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, industry, infrastructure development, women's empowerment, public safety, and self-reliance.

The Chief Minister noted that the government's primary objectives are to improve the quality of life of every citizen, strengthen the economy, ensure optimum utilisation of the state's own resources, and decentralise power through transparent governance.

Reaffirming the commitment to building a 'Viksit Bharat', Saha said that the Tripura government is dedicated to creating a more developed state by following the vision and guidance of Prime Minister Modi.

Calling upon the people to renew their resolve, the Chief Minister urged everyone to pledge on Statehood Day to collectively build a 'New Tripura'.

In the function, Saha read out the Prime Minister's letter addressed to him on Tripura's Statehood Day. The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for extending warm greetings on the Statehood Day of Tripura, reaffirming the Centre's steadfast commitment to inclusive development, enhanced connectivity, peace, and prosperity in the Northeast.

PM Modi, in his letter to the Chief Minister, said that the government's 'Purvodaya' vision, aimed at accelerating development in eastern India, is also playing a transformative role in driving growth and progress in the Northeastern region. He said that for decades, it was an undeniable reality that the people of the Northeast, including Tripura, felt distant and isolated from the national mainstream.

"Our government received the opportunity to change this reality by bridging distances, strengthening emotional bonds and striking a chord with the people of this region," he said.

PM Modi said that over the last eight years, the double-engine governments, the NDA government at the Centre and CM Saha's team in the state, have worked with dedication for Tripura's transformation. "This sustained effort is fully in keeping with the spirit of the historic mandate given by the people of Tripura in 2018 and 2023," he pointed out.

On Statehood Day, the Tripura government conferred various awards on several eminent personalities in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education, science, health, music, culture, cinema, women's empowerment, politics and social service.

Transparency and accountability are the need of the hour in every state. Hope the promises made for youth and women empowerment, especially for tribal communities, translate into real jobs and opportunities on the ground. Actions speak louder than words.

The 'Purvodaya' vision and Act East Policy are brilliant strategies. Developing the Northeast is crucial for national integration and security. Kudos to the double-engine government for the focus. Tripura's progress will inspire other states.

While the vision sounds comprehensive, I hope the development is sustainable and inclusive in practice. It's important that the "rich cultural heritage" mentioned isn't overshadowed by rapid, homogenizing infrastructure projects. A respectful balance is key.

Good to see awards being given for contributions in various fields. Recognizing local heroes is as important as big policies. Hope the "self-reliant tomorrow" includes promoting local entrepreneurs and artisans from Tripura. 🏞️

The article talks about decentralising power through transparent governance. This is the most critical part. If panchayats and local bodies are truly empowered with funds and functions, only then will we see real change. Let's see it happen.
