Tight security for VP Radhakrishnan's two-day Kerala visit

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan will begin a two-day visit to Kerala on Sunday, attending the Kerala Kaumudi anniversary, Aranmula Water Festival, and Onam Pageantry. Police have implemented elaborate security measures, including parking restrictions and route management, across all venues. The visit will also cover Agatti Island in Lakshadweep and Kochi for a fisheries outreach and RSET Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, on his two-day visit to Kerala, starting from Sunday till Monday will see enhanced security arrangements across the state, with the state capital and other locations he is scheduled to visit .

The Vice-President will arrive in Kerala on Sunday and attend a series of programmes, including the 115th anniversary celebrations of Kerala Kaumudi in Alappuzha.

He will later travel to Pathanamthitta to inaugurate the Aranmula Water Festival before reaching Thiruvananthapuram, where he will flag off the Onam Pageantry.

His visit to the state capital comes as Kerala's week-long Onam Tourism Week celebrations draw to a close.

He will be the chief guest at the state government's Onam valedictory event.

The police have made elaborate security arrangements covering the Vice-President's movements, with special attention being given to the airport, official venues and the routes connecting them.

Parking restrictions have been imposed along several key roads as part of the security measures, and vehicles found parked on restricted stretches during the specified hours will be removed using recovery vehicles.

The security arrangements will continue into August 31, when Vice-President Radhakrishnan will travel to Agatti Island in Lakshadweep for a fisheries outreach programme.

He will return to Kochi later in the day to attend the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET) and the Confluence 3.0 Summit.

The multi location itinerary, covering Kerala and Lakshadweep, has prompted authorities to coordinate security arrangements closely at each venue and along the Vice-President's travel routes.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the police have urged the public to cooperate with the security measures.

Passengers travelling to Thampanoor and Kochuveli railway stations and the international and domestic airports have also been advised to plan their journeys in advance.

Vice-President Radhakrishnan's visit comes against the backdrop of the state's Onam celebrations, with his participation in the Onam Pageantry and the valedictory event adding significance to the concluding events of the Tourism Week.

With programmes spread across Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, Agatti and Kochi, the two-day visit is expected to keep security agencies on heightened alert throughout the schedule.
