Hyderabad, May 19

The Telangana government is making elaborate arrangements for the State Formation Day celebrations on June 2.

The main official ceremony to mark Telangana Formation Day celebrations will be held on a grand scale at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will first visit Gun Park to pay homage to the Telangana martyrs at the Martyrs' Memorial, following which he will participate in the celebrations at the Parade Grounds.

Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary to the State Government, on Tuesday directed senior officials to make appropriate arrangements for the grand celebrations on June 2.

According to an official release, he held a review meeting with concerned officials regarding these arrangements at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat.

On the occasion, he issued directives to officials regarding the specific arrangements to be made at both the Parade Grounds and Gun Park.

He suggested that a nodal officer be designated from each department to oversee the arrangements for the celebrations and ensure effective coordination among departments.

He directed the Police Department to provide necessary security cover along the routes travelled by dignitaries.

He specifically instructed officials to make proper parking arrangements to ensure that vehicles arriving at the Parade Grounds face no inconvenience, prepare a traffic route map, and take all necessary precautions to prevent any disruption to traffic flow.

He also directed the Roads and Buildings Department to set up waterproof shamianas and barricades.

He instructed the concerned officials to ensure proper sanitation on the venue premises and in the surrounding areas, as well as adequate arrangements for drinking water.

The Special Chief Secretary also directed the Department of Culture to organise cultural performances featuring various artists to create a festive atmosphere befitting the occasion.

He instructed officials from the Electricity Department to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, including backup generator facilities, and illuminate prominent city landmarks such as the Assembly, the State Secretariat, Charminar, Praja Bhavan, and other government offices with decorative lighting.

He directed the Special Commissioner of the Information Department to make arrangements for a live telecast to ensure widespread publicity for the State Formation Day celebrations.

He advised officials from all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the event's grand success.

Furthermore, he issued orders for all departments to conduct joint rehearsals at the Parade Grounds starting on May 25.

Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal, Principal Secretary (Home) Shikha Goel, Secretary Raghunandan Rao, Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat, Additional Director General (Intelligence) Vijay Kumar, Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited Chairman and Managing Director Harish, Special Commissioner of Information and Public Relations Mukunda Reddy, Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy, along with other senior police officials and representatives from various departments, participated in the meeting.

I moved to Hyderabad from the US a few years ago, and the transformation in Telangana over the past decade is remarkable. The coordination across departments—police, power, water, culture—shows a mature administration. The live telecast idea is smart for those who can't attend in person. Kudos! 🇮🇳

I'm all for celebrating our statehood, but with summer heat at its peak, I hope they provide ample drinking water and shade for the public. Also, the parking arrangements mentioned—let's hope they actually follow through, unlike last year's traffic chaos. Still, happy to see the spirit alive! 🏽‍♂️🔥

The level of detail here—from shamianas to generator backups to joint rehearsals starting May 25—shows a professional approach. Coming from a country where even small events face logistical nightmares, this is impressive. Hope they also include disabled access and eco-friendly measures like avoiding single-use plastics.

Beautiful to see the emphasis on cultural performances and lighting up Charminar, Secretariat, and other landmarks! It brings the city alive. But I hope the CM's visit to the martyrs' memorial isn't just a photo-op—the families of those who sacrificed for Telangana deserve more than just one day of remembrance. 🙏🏽

As someone who studied at IIIT Hyderabad, I always celebrate this day. The attention to security, traffic management, and sanitation is reassuring. One suggestion: involve local artists and street performers from Telangana's districts, not just big names. That would truly capture the soul of the state's formation.
