Tamil Nadu Elections 2026: CM Stalin campaigns across Tiruchirappalli for DMK candidates

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin campaigns in Tiruchirappalli for DMK alliance candidates, expressing confidence in victory for the 2026 Assembly elections.

"I am a son of the soil, of Kalaignar. I am asking you all, is victory confirmed? - MK Stalin"

Tiruchirappalli, April 1

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Wednesday campaigned across multiple areas in Tiruchirappalli, rallying support for party candidates ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

He began in the Gandhi Nagar Market area backing DMK candidate Inigo Irudaya Raj for Tiruchirappalli East, followed by a visit to Palakkarai, where he stopped at a local tea shop for tea.

Stalin then continued to Bheema Nagar, urging voters to support K. N. Nehru in Tiruchirappalli West, engaging directly with residents and shopkeepers during his campaign trail.

He kick-started his campaign for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections on March 31 from Thiruvarur, the hometown of late DMK leader M Karunanidhi.

Addressing a public gathering, Stalin said the DMK had already unveiled its "superstar manifesto" at Anna Arivalayam and expressed confidence in the alliance's victory.

"I am a son of the soil, of Kalaignar. I am asking you all, is victory confirmed? Is the victory you are going to ensure for these four confirmed?" he said.

Calling Thiruvarur "DMK's oor" (land), Stalin highlighted its significance as the land that shaped Karunanidhi and the ideological roots of the party. He said the campaign marked the beginning of a decisive electoral journey aimed at returning the DMK-led alliance to power.

The Chief Minister appealed to voters to support key alliance candidates. He urged support for DMK's Poondi Kalaivanan in Thiruvarur, recalling his close connection with the people and earlier electoral success.

Stalin also canvassed for TRB Rajaa in Mannargudi, praising his contribution to Tamil Nadu's industrial growth, and for CPI candidate K Marimuthu in Thiruthuraipoondi, describing him as a committed socialist leader.

He further called on party cadres to work for the victory of alliance candidate Mohammad Mubarak in Nannilam, stressing the importance of unity among alliance partners. "All these four, please vote for them as your representatives, as your voice in the Assembly," Stalin said.

Reaffirming his confidence, Stalin said he had assured alliance partners of victory before launching the campaign. "Like your assurance, I invited our alliance partners to Arivalayam and assured them victory. Only then did I set off to Thiruvarur," he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday held an election campaign in the Dharmapuri area ahead of the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in the state.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 23, 2026, to elect all 234 members, with counting of votes set for May 4.

Interesting to see the focus on alliance unity. Campaigning for CPI and other partners shows a strategic approach. The real test will be if this unity translates into votes across all constituencies.

Starting from Thiruvarur, Karunanidhi's hometown, is very symbolic. It connects the party's past with its present leadership. But voters today want results, not just emotional connections. What has the government delivered for Trichy? 🤔

As a Trichy resident, it's good to see the CM campaigning here personally. Bheema Nagar and Gandhi Market areas need attention. Hope the candidates focus on local issues like water, roads, and employment, not just party politics.

The confidence is high, but 2026 is still far. A lot can change. The opposition will also be preparing. DMK's performance in the last few years will be under scrutiny. Let's see what the manifesto actually offers.

Respectfully, while the campaign trail looks energetic, I hope there is equal focus on women's safety, healthcare, and education in the manifesto. Tamil Nadu needs balanced development, not just political symbolism. All the best to all candidates.
