"Source of pride": YS Jagan Mohan Reddy pays tribute to SP Balasubrahmanyam on singer's death anniversary

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tribute to the legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam on the late singer's death anniversary on Friday.
YSRCP President described SP Balasubrahmanyam as a "source of pride" for the Telugu-speaking citizens due to the late singer's illustrious music career. He paid his respects to the singer by penning a heartfelt note on his X handle.
He wrote, "With his enchanting voice that breathed life into every song, the legendary singer Sri SP Balasubrahmanyam, who has forever etched himself in the hearts of millions across the globe. Singing thousands of songs not just in Telugu but in numerous languages, he carved out a unique place for himself in the world of Indian music and became a source of pride for our Telugu people. Today, on the occasion of Sri SP Balasubrahmanyam's death anniversary, I pay my respects to him"
SP Balasubrahmanyam, known as the "Voice Magician," won the hearts of millions by singing over 50,000 songs in 16 languages, including Kannada. Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as SPB, passed away in September 2020 at the age of 74 years.
In 2021, the playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously by the former President Ram Nath Kovind at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
The singer had won six national awards and was awarded the Padma Shri (2001) and the Padma Bhushan (2011). The Padma Shri award-winning musician is survived by his wife, Savitri Balasubrahmanyam and his children, SP Charan and Pallavi Balasubrahmanyam.
