Sonu Nigam revisits 'early days from his 1997 music video 'Sapne Ki Baat Main Bataoon' featuring Aditi Govitrikar
Mumbai, June 6
Stalwart Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam recently took a trip down memory lane by sharing a a video clip from his 1997 music video 'Sapne Ki Baat Main Bataoon', on Saturday morning.
The singer posted the song on his social media account, recalling the early days of his journey in the entertainment industry.
Sharing the post, Sonu wrote, "My beginning (2) | Sapne Ki Baat Main Bataun | Early 1997"#flashback."
The song featured a young Sonu Nigam in a completely different avatar from the superstar singer audiences know today.
The video featured actress-model Aditi Govitrikar as well.
Talking about the song 'Sapne Ki Baat Main Bataoon', it was among the independent music videos that helped establish Sonu Nigam's on-screen presence before he became one of Bollywood's one of the top singers.
Earlier on Friday, Sonu Nigam on Friday revisited one of the earliest chapters of his career as he reminisced about the recording days of 'Mohabbat Ki Qeemat Ada Hum Karenge' from the 1993 film "Bewafa Sanam".
Sonu shared a string of images from the recording of the number at the iconic Filmistan Studio Goregaon in Mumbai in 1993.
He wrote as the caption: "My beginning (1) | Mohabbat Ki Keemat Ada Hum Karenge - Bewafa Sanam | September, 1993 Filmistan Studio Goregaon.."
For the uninitiated, Sonu began his career in early 1990s. His first song for a film was "O Aasmanwale" from Aaja Meri Jaan in 1993. He gained recognition with TV serial song "Hum To Chhaila Ban Gaye" from Talash and later for songs "Accha Sila Diya", "Sandese Aate Hai" and "Yeh Dil Deewana". His album Deewana in 1999 became popular.
Sonu who has recorded over 6,000 songs in more than 32 languages throughout his career of more than three decades, was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2022.
He made his acting debut in 2002 with 'Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani', a fantasy action thriller film directed by Rajkumar Kohli. The film stars Armaan Kohli, Manisha Koirala, Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Sonu Nigam, Aftab Shivdasani, Aditya Pancholi, Rambha and Sharad Kapoor.

I discovered Sonu Nigam's music when I visited India in the early 2000s. His voice is extraordinary, but I wish more people knew about his independent work like this. The 90s music videos had such a raw charm that's missing today.
Oh the nostalgia! 😭 I had this song on a cassette tape back in school. Aditi Govitrikar was so stunning too. Sonu Nigam's journey from singing in a chawl to becoming one of the greatest playback singers is truly inspiring. ❤️
Interesting flashback! I'm not familiar with many Bollywood singers, but Sonu Nigam's talent is undeniable. The evolution from a music video to recording 6000 songs in 32 languages is phenomenal. Respect for his dedication.
Sonu Nigam is a gem of Indian music industry. But honestly, I miss his experimental phase from the 90s - the indie pop songs were something else. Today's Bollywood singers don't get that creative freedom. Still, kudos to him for inspiring millions! 🙌
This was my jam in 1997! 🎶 Sonu ji looks so young and innocent in the video. It's amazing how he maintained his humility despite becoming a superstar. Padma Shri was well-deserved. Hoping for more such flashback treats from him!
