"Somnath has remained a beacon of Sanatan culture and spiritual resilience for thousands of years - Pushkar Singh Dhami"

Dehradun, May 7

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Thursday that Somnath Temple is a living symbol of India's eternal culture, unwavering faith and indomitable spirit, which has withstood the test of time despite centuries of invasions and historical upheavals.

Speaking ahead of the "75 Years of Heritage Celebration" to be organised from May 8 to 11 at the Somnath Temple complex, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister said the event is not merely a religious gathering but a grand celebration of India's cultural consciousness, spiritual heritage and national pride.

Dhami said that Somnath has remained a beacon of Sanatan culture and spiritual resilience for thousands of years and continues to send a strong message to the world that India's cultural roots and spiritual values are eternal and unbreakable.

"The upcoming celebration is an opportunity to honour our rich traditions and inspire the younger generation to connect with the country's glorious heritage and Sanatan values," he added.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the preservation, promotion and restoration of India's spiritual and cultural heritage are progressing across the country with renewed commitment and energy.

Dhami said that major religious and cultural centres across the country are witnessing large-scale rejuvenation and development works, reflecting India's cultural renaissance.

Referring to projects such as Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakal Lok, Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple, Chief Minister Dhami said these initiatives are strengthening India's spiritual identity while preserving centuries-old traditions.

According to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, such efforts are also playing a key role in reconnecting the younger generation with Indian civilisation, traditions and cultural values.

He said these initiatives are helping strengthen cultural unity, patriotism and spiritual awareness among citizens.

Chief Minister Dhami expressed confidence that this special event associated with Somnath would further establish India's eternal traditions and cultural pride more strongly on the global stage.

Great to see focus on our ancient temples. But I hope the development doesn't overshadow the real spiritual essence. Temples are about inner peace, not just grand architecture. Let's keep it balanced.

It's great that Modi Ji is reviving our cultural heritage. I recently visited Kashi Vishwanath Dham and it was a transformative experience. Somnath Temple is indeed a lighthouse of our Sanatan values. 🙏

Impressive resilience of Indian culture. As an outsider, I find the way India preserves thousands-year-old traditions truly remarkable. The spiritual continuity here is unmatched in the world.

While I appreciate the cultural pride, I think we should also focus on making these temples accessible to all Indians, regardless of background. True unity comes from inclusion, not just heritage celebration. Just a thought.

Somnath has been rebuilt multiple times after destruction. It's not just a temple; it's the testament of our spirit. CM Dhami rightly said it's about cultural consciousness. Jai Somnath! 🕉️
