Shreya Kalra says she had made peace with rumours of Shivangi Joshi being the winner on 'Lock Upp 2'

Mumbai, Aug 10

Shreya Kalra, who won the 2nd season of the streaming captive reality show 'Lock Upp', has said that she had accepted her fate of not being the winner until the news was broken to her.

She said that she heard the rumours about Shivangi Joshi being crowned the winner, and shared that even Google threw up results of Shivangi being the winner. So when she heard that she had won the show, she was left shell-shocked.

She told the media, "I didn't feel that I would win the show because we have seen reality shows, and we know that a certain bias creeps in for the people who are famous while deciding the winner. The makers do it so that they could pitch it to bigger actors in the subsequent season. I was convinced that whatever I had, I gave to the show. Even if I hadn't won the show, I won in life. I had said the same thing in my speech that the friends I made along the way in the show, the way fans supported me, I was happy in that moment".

"I heard about the rumours about Shivangi Joshi being the winner, even Google had reported the same. I had accepted it. But when I got to know that I'm the winner of the show, I was shocked", she added.

Shreya walked away with the coveted trophy and a whopping Rs 1 crore cash prize. Shivangi Joshi finished as the first runner-up, while the other finalists were Ram Kapoor, Shilpa Shinde and Yogesh Rawat. Ahead of the finale, Varun Yadav and Akanksha Chamola were eliminated from the competition. Akanksha was evicted after Yogesh, Shreya and Varun unanimously voted her out when host Riteish Deshmukh asked them to take a collective decision.

The makers always favour popular faces to get TRPs. Shreya being a lesser-known name winning is actually a big surprise. But she genuinely played well and deserved it. This gives hope to all the underdogs out there. Bhai, respect! 🙌

Shivangi Joshi has a massive fanbase, so the rumours were natural. But I'm glad Shreya's hard work paid off. She was consistent, honest and never played dirty. This is a win for genuine content over mere popularity, yaar. So well-deserved! 💯

I mean, we've seen this pattern so many times - the "underdog wins" narrative is often scripted too. But Shreya's reaction seems genuine. She said she was "shell-shocked" which is honestly how we all felt when the results came out. Anyway, congratulations to her! Big prize money too! 💰

"Even if I hadn't won the show, I won in life" - this is such a beautiful quote! This is the kind of sportive spirit we need more of. So many people get bitter after such shows, but Shreya's graciousness and maturity stands out. Wishing her all the best for her future projects! ✨

The point about "bias for famous people" is so true for Indian reality shows. But this time, they surprised us all! Maybe the makers finally realised that genuine talent deserves recognition too. Shreya consistently entertained and played smart. She deserves every bit of that 1 crore! 👏
