Scindia inspects Gwalior parking project, orders technical study of waterlogging

The Union Minister took detailed information about the progress of the project, construction quality and the drainage arrangements during the inspection. He specifically reviewed the waterlogging issue in Basement-3 and directed officials to ensure that the outlet and drainage system has a safe and permanent solution.

During the inspection, he asked the district administration and Gwalior Municipal Corporation officials to continuously monitor the issue and ensure that similar problems do not arise in the future. "Every single rupee of public money should be utilised for quality work. Development projects need to be completed with speed, but there should be no compromise on quality and construction precautions," Scindia said.

The project, being developed under the Smart City scheme at an estimated cost of around Rs 77 crore, is aimed at improving parking facilities in the busy Maharaja Bada area.

It will have a capacity to accommodate 429 vehicles, including 353 four-wheelers and 76 two-wheelers.

Scindia directed officials to accelerate the construction while maintaining the required quality standards. He said the basement and ground-floor work should be completed by January-February 2027 and called for regular reviews to ensure that the project remains on schedule.

"Water, roads and electricity are basic facilities directly connected with the lives of common people. The funds provided by the Centre and the state government should be properly utilised to create facilities that benefit citizens for a long time," he said.

Scindia said the parking project was important for the planned development of Gwalior and would help ease parking-related problems in the Maharaj Bada area.
