Rasika Dugal shares what social media has taught her about things she 'didn't ask for'
Mumbai, June 30
Actress Rasika Dugal has offered a candid reflection on her experience with social media.
In her latest post, she spoke about the unexpected lessons it has brought her over time. Dugal marked Social Media Day and noted that while she did not actively seek out many of these learnings, they have nonetheless shaped her perspective in ways she hadn't anticipated. Taking to Instagram, the 'Hamid' actress shared her videos and wrote, "Social media has taught me many things. I didn't ask for all of them, but here we are. #SocialMediaDay."
The text on the first video read, "How to lose 45 minutes accidentally." Another said, "How to have music stuck in my head." The third clip said, "How to save healthy recipes while eating chips."
Social Media Day is celebrated every year on June 30 to acknowledge the transformative influence of digital platforms.
On the professional front, Rasika was recently seen in the film "Kartavya," which stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead. She will next be seen in "Mirzapur - The Movie," which is slated for release on September 4. The Mirzapur franchise revolves around Akhandanand "Kaleen" Tripathi, a powerful crime boss and businessman who rules over Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal region.
The first season featured an ensemble cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The upcoming film version will introduce new faces such as Jitendra Kumar, Sonal Chauhan, and Ravi Kishan, along with returning cast members.
In the second season, most of the original cast returned, except Vikrant Massey and Shriya Pilgaonkar, while new additions included Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Anangsha Biswas, and Neha Sargam.
Rasika was last seen in the black comedy "Lord Curzon Ki Haveli," directed by Anshuman Jha.

It's scary how accurate this is 😂 The number of times I've opened Instagram to 'check something quickly' and ended up watching 20 cooking videos, 5 memes, and 3 random life hacks. And yes, I have saved those healthy recipes while munching on namkeen. Rasika Dugal has put words to our collective ADHD in the digital age.
I appreciate her honesty but let's be real - social media has also taught us some important things. From getting news about our villages to learning new skills, it's not all wasted time. The key is balance, which I'm still trying to figure out. Rasika is a talented actress though, excited for Mirzapur movie! 🇮🇳
As someone who works in digital marketing in the US, I find this universally true. But the Indian social media experience is uniquely chaotic - in a good way! Between political debates in comment sections and filter coffee recipes, you never know what you'll get. Rasika's humor about 'learning to save recipes while eating chips' is spot on for all of us.
