Dehradun, June 30

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will create history on July 4, becoming the first BJP Chief Minister in the state to complete a continuous five-year tenure in office.

Before him, veteran Congress leader the late Narayan Dutt Tiwari was the only Chief Minister in the state's history to complete a full five-year term.

Dhami first assumed office as Chief Minister on July 4, 2021, and following the BJP's victory in the 2022 assembly elections, the party leadership once again entrusted him with the state's command, making him the only Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to secure a second consecutive term.

Uttarakhand has a history of high political turnover. Since the state's formation in 2000, it has had 10 Chief Ministers. Narayan Dutt Tiwari served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from March 2, 2002, to March 7, 2007.

During Dhami's tenure, the state government has continued to focus on governance and development.

On Monday, Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 17 development projects worth a total of ₹123.79 crore during a grand event in Champawat. Of these, eight completed projects worth ₹27.79 crore were inaugurated, while foundation stones were laid for nine new projects valued at ₹96 crore.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Jim Corbett Trail, developed at a cost of ₹3.49 crore. The project includes various construction and renovation works at multiple locations across the district associated with Jim Corbett. He also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the City Centre being developed at the Champawat Bus Station Roadways area.

He also participated in a public programme in Champawat, where he announced a landmark boost to the state's healthcare infrastructure.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art MRI machine installed at a cost of approximately Rs 6 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with the support of the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth.

The government's four-year anniversary was marked in March this year with large public events, including a programme titled "Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar - Four Years of Excellence, Uttarakhand Moving Forward on the Path of Continuous Progress," held at the Parade Ground in Dehradun.

Addressing the gathering, Dhami said the double-engine government was working towards building a "strong, prosperous, and self-reliant Uttarakhand," guided by the mantra of "Development as well as Heritage."

Good to see stability in Uttarakhand politics. Dhami ji seems focused on infrastructure and healthcare. The CSR partnership with ICICI for the MRI machine is a smart move—public-private partnerships can really boost healthcare access in hill areas. Hope this continues for another term.

While the development projects sound promising, I hope the government also addresses basic issues like road connectivity in remote villages and employment for local youth. Infrastructure is good, but the real test is whether common people's daily lives improve. Let's see if the 'Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar' lives up to its name.

Congratulations to CM Dhami! Making history is always special. The ₹123.79 crore investment in Champawat shows the government's commitment to developing even smaller districts. Uttarakhand's natural beauty combined with good governance can make it a model state. Keep it up! 🎉
