Rajasthan CM travels by EV bus to save fuel in line with PM Modi's appeal for oil conservation efforts
Jaipur, May 16
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday boarded an electric vehicle bus as part of efforts to save fuel in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for oil conservaton efforts amid the West Asia Conflict.
The Chief Minister travelled from the Chief Minister's residence in Jaipur to Tikaria village in the Bagru Assembly constituency to attend an official programme.
The Chief MInister said on Wednesday that the state government has issued special guidelines to promote the conservation of petrol and diesel.
Addressing the media in Jaipur, Sharma said the Prime Minister's appeal on various national issues has had a positive impact across the country, and Rajasthan is also taking steps in the same direction.
He said the government has decided to reduce fuel consumption by cutting down unnecessary usage of vehicles by officials and public representatives.
"I have decided to reduce the number of vehicles in my convoy. All officials and public representatives in the state will also ensure economy in vehicle usage and avoid unnecessary deployment of vehicles," the Rajasthan CM said.
"Programs should also be reduced in number to save petrol and diesel consumption," Sharma said, adding that the move is aimed at supporting national efforts toward energy conservation.

I wish more politicians would do this. Taking an EV bus to save fuel shows genuine commitment. But let's also remember that EVs need clean electricity to be truly sustainable. Hope Rajasthan is working on solar power too!
Bhai, reducing convoy vehicles is a great step! But can we also talk about the VIP culture in our country? Every minister wants a cavalcade of 10-20 cars. If he can inspire other CMs and central ministers to follow suit, that would be real change. 👏
I appreciate the symbolism, but let's be honest—cutting down programs is also a convenient way to avoid public scrutiny. Why not audit actual fuel consumption in government offices and publish the savings? That would be real accountability.
Ek baar to main bhi EV bus mein baitha hoon! It's actually quite comfortable and eco-friendly. But the real test is whether this becomes a lasting policy or just a one-day photo op. Let's wait and watch what happens in 6 months. 🤔
Good initiative, but the real problem is our dependence on oil imports. Instead of just cutting consumption, why not massively invest in domestic solar and wind energy? Also, improving public transport would have a bigger impact than symbolic EV rides.
