Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 nominations to close on July 31

New Delhi, July 2

The Women and Child Development Ministry on Thursday called upon schools, youth groups, NGOs, panchayats and individuals to identify and support potential nominees to file online applications for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Awards 2026 by July 31.

Any citizen, school, institution, or organisation can nominate candidates they deem deserving. Children may also apply through self-nomination for the awards that celebrate the extraordinary achievements of children aged 5 to 18 years, said a statement.

The prestigious national-level award is conferred annually by the President to recognise exceptional achievements of children in the fields of art and culture, bravery, sports, social service, environment and science and technology.

The objectives of the awards are to celebrate and amplify the achievements of India's youth in diverse spheres, to inspire peers nationwide by showcasing real-life role models and to foster an enabling environment for children's holistic development, said a statement.

In a social media post on X, the Ministry said, "The last date for submission of applications is July 31, 2026. All nominations for the PMRBP award must be made through the online portal https://awards.gov.in."

Applicants will need to fill in basic personal details and the category of award and then upload a recent photograph and supporting documents. They will also need to submit a write-up (up to 1000-words) about the achievement and its impact, said the statement.

To apply, young achievers must first register or log in on the portal by providing details such as First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Applicant Type (Individual/Organisation), Mobile Number, Email ID, Aadhaar Number, etc. and CAPTCHA verification, said the statement.

It said that once registered, they should select the 'Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025' under the 'Ongoing Nominations' section and click on 'Nominate/Apply Now'. Applicants must then choose the relevant award category and indicate whether the nomination is for themselves or someone else.

The application form requires nominee details, a concise narrative (maximum 500 words) describing the achievement and its impact, and the upload of supporting documents (PDF format, up to 10 attachments) and a recent photograph, said the statement.

It said applications can be saved as drafts and edited before final submission. Once reviewed and submitted, a downloadable copy of the application will be available for reference.

Its nice that India is encouraging its youth, but I wonder how many children from rural areas actually know about this award. The Aadhaar requirement might be a barrier for some. Still, its a positive move overall.

Have seen a few of these award winners on TV - truly inspiring kids! But the ministry should also ensure that the selection process is transparent. Too often these awards go to children from privileged backgrounds. What about the real heroes from slums and villages? Need more grassroots outreach. 🤔

Excellent step! As a school teacher, I've already encouraged my students to apply. This award motivates not just the winners but their entire community. However, the 500-word limit for describing achievements might be too short for some truly remarkable stories. My student who made a low-cost water purifier needs more space to explain her work! 😊

Good scheme but why only 5-18 age group? My 4 year old son already has won district level chess competition! They should consider starting from 3 years. Also, the application process is too long for parents. Make it simpler na 🙏

Finally something that doesn't need a recommendation from some big shot! The self-nomination option is a game changer. I've already helped my neighbour's daughter apply for her work in helping street children learn basic math. The portal works fine on mobile too. Let's celebrate our young stars! 🌟
