Delhi Mayor participates in march in Prashant Vihar as part of 'Koode Se Azaadi' campaign

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi participated in a mega march organized today in Prashant Vihar in North-West Zone, as part of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 'Delhi Ko Koode Se Azaadi' campaign envisioned by Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Emphasizing the broader vision behind the initiative, Wahi said that they are committed to making Delhi clean, garbage-free, and green.
The mega march, organized under the 'Koode Se Azaadi' campaign, saw the participation of North-West Zone Deputy Commissioner Anshul Sirohi, Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials, sanitation workers and local citizens, a release said.
During the mega march aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness, Wahi walked approximately two kilometers, did Shramdaan, and swept the road. He issued instructions to prune roadside trees and ordered strict action to remove encroachments from the roads. Wahi also directed officials to fill potholes on the roads.
Anti-mosquito insecticide was sprayed during the mega march, and a street play on cleanliness was organized to raise public awareness.
Highlighting the origins and future roadmap of the drive, Wahi said that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has achieved significant success in eliminating the garbage mountains described as a blot on Delhi and affirmed that they would eliminate them within the stipulated timeframe.
He added that state-of-the-art plants are being installed for the scientific disposal of fresh waste, ensuring that such waste is processed promptly in the future.
Addressing citizens during the 'Mega March', Wahi remarked that while sanitation is a primary function of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, public cooperation is essential to the mission of transforming Delhi into a world-class city and emphasized that the campaign could succeed if citizens made cleanliness a habit, properly segregated household waste, refrained from littering, and pledged to dispose of garbage only in designated collection vehicles.
He said that the Municipal Corporation's 'Delhi ko Koode se Azaadi' campaign extends beyond mere cleaning; its objectives include raising public awareness about hygiene, maintaining clean public spaces, ensuring regular sanitation in sensitive areas, and uniting public representatives, municipal staff, and citizens in a collective cleanliness drive.
During the 'Mega March', the Mayor also planted a sapling as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, an initiative inspired by PM Modi. He described the campaign as a symbol of both environmental conservation and reverence for mothers, the release said.
