Impressive numbers especially from Mandi with 3,731 nominations! But I hope the Commission ensures proper scrutiny of candidates - we need educated and honest people in these positions, not just those with money power. Panchayats handle crores of rupees now.

Ballot papers in 2024? That's interesting. Many states have moved to EVMs even for panchayat polls. Maybe Himachal wants to avoid technical glitches. Whatever works for smooth elections 👍

Three-phase polling from May 26-30 seems well thought out for hilly terrain. Our Himachal geography is tough so staggered voting makes sense. Hope security arrangements are adequate in border areas like Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.

Good to see Lahaul-Spiti with 74 nominations despite low population. Every vote matters in democracy. But I wish more youth would contest - panchayats need fresh ideas for water management, waste disposal and digital literacy in villages.

While numbers are impressive, let's see how many of these candidates are actually serious about development vs just wasting nomination fees. The scrutiny date on May 12 will be crucial to weed out frivolous filings.
