Operation Sindoor reaffirmed India's zero-tolerance stance on terror: Gujarat CM

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel says Operation Sindoor shows India's unwavering resolve against terrorism, one year after precision strikes on Pakistan terror camps.

"India has made it clear that terrorism will never be tolerated, and that the nation possesses both the will and capability to eliminate threats against its people and its unity. - Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel"

Gandhinagar, May 7

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Thursday that Operation Sindoor had demonstrated India's "unwavering resolve, courage and decisive strength against terrorism" as the country marked one year since the military operation was launched against terrorists based in Pakistan.

In a post on social media platform X, Chief Minister Patel noted that the operation symbolised the country's determination to respond firmly to terrorism and praised the role of the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and security.

"Today marks one year of Operation Sindoor, a symbol of India's unwavering resolve, courage and decisive strength against terrorism," he said.

The Chief Minister added that the nation saluted the unmatched bravery and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, adding that they had "fought fearlessly to protect the honour of our mothers and sisters, and to defend the sovereignty and security of Bharat".

Chief Minister Patel also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing decisive leadership during the operation.

"Under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's Armed Forces carried out the operation with extraordinary precision and valour, sending a clear message to the world about the strength and determination of New India," he said.

He added that Operation Sindoor had reaffirmed that any attempt to spread terror on Indian soil would invite a "strong and decisive response".

"India has made it clear that terrorism will never be tolerated, and that the nation possesses both the will and capability to eliminate threats against its people and its unity," Chief Minister Patel said.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 last year following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 civilians.

According to officials, Indian forces carried out precision strikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to lead a national security review in Jaipur on the first anniversary of the operation.

The Defence Ministry has described Operation Sindoor as a "landmark tri-services mission" reflecting India's military resolve and political determination.

Chief Minister Patel has previously described Operation Sindoor as "the reflection of the sentiments of crores of Indians" during a Tiranga Yatra held in Ahmedabad last year to honour the Indian military following the operation.

While I appreciate the strong stance against terrorism, I hope the government is also focusing on long-term diplomatic solutions. Military action is necessary but not sufficient for lasting peace in the region.

Finally, a government that doesn't shy away from taking tough decisions! The Pahalgam attack was a wake-up call, and Operation Sindoor sent a strong message to those who think they can mess with India. Jai Hind! 🙏

The article focuses heavily on political statements but mentions little about the actual impact on ground. I'd like to see more reporting on whether cross-border infiltration has reduced and how the operation affected local communities in Kashmir. That would give a more complete picture.

It's heartening to see the government honouring our armed forces. My uncle served in the Army and always said that the sacrifices of our soldiers should never be in vain. Operation Sindoor proves that their bravery is matched by political will. Proud to be an Indian today! ✨

The PM's leadership in this operation has been rightly praised. However, I hope the government is also addressing internal security challenges and not just focusing on cross-border threats. A comprehensive approach to national security is what we need.
