Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav stresses effective use of tribal welfare funds
Bhopal, April 16
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with Governor Mangubhai Patel, on Thursday inaugurated a two-day state-level Tribal Sub-Plan workshop at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal.
The two-day workshop has brought together senior officials, policymakers and subject experts to deliberate on improving the planning, execution and monitoring of schemes aimed at the overall development of tribal communities in the state.
Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop organised by the state's Tribal Welfare Department, the Chief Minister said that a large tribal population resides in Madhya Pradesh, making their development a key responsibility of the government.
"A substantial portion of the country's tribal population resides in our state. We are continuously working to ensure their all-round development," CM Yadav said, addressing the gathering.
Focusing on implementation, Chief Minister Yadav stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in public spending.
"Ensuring the effective utilisation of the budget allocated for the tribal community is the government's responsibility. Funds should be used in a transparent and time-bound manner so that benefits reach the actual beneficiaries," he added.
He further noted that the workshop would help in preparing practical strategies for the social, economic and educational upliftment of tribal communities. Discussions during the sessions are expected to focus on strengthening delivery systems and ensuring that welfare schemes have a measurable impact on the ground.
Governor Mangubhai Patel also highlighted the importance of proper planning and regular monitoring to ensure effective implementation of schemes. He said coordinated efforts between departments are essential to ensure that development reaches even the most remote tribal areas.
The RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, a premier training institute for administrative officers in the state, is hosting the workshop and facilitating policy discussions and capacity-building efforts.
The workshop aims to improve the utilisation of Tribal Sub-Plan funds and ensure that government initiatives translate into tangible benefits for tribal communities across Madhya Pradesh.

Good to see the CM and Governor on the same page for tribal development. MP has a huge responsibility given our tribal population. But workshops alone aren't enough. We need to see actual improvement in health and education indicators in places like Jhabua and Alirajpur.
Accountability is the key word here. Every year, crores are allocated. The question is how much actually reaches the last mile. Need strict audits and social audits involving the tribal communities themselves. They should be part of the planning process too.
Coordination between departments is so important! Often, the forest department, education, and health work in silos, leaving gaps. Hope this workshop creates a unified dashboard for all tribal welfare initiatives. The focus should be on sustainable livelihoods, not just doles.
As someone who has worked with NGOs in MP, the intent is always good at the top. The challenge is the implementation layer. Field officers need more empowerment and less red tape. Glad to see the discussion is happening at the RCVP Academy, a good place for it.
Transparency in spending is a must. But along with funds, we need to preserve tribal culture and knowledge systems. Development shouldn't mean losing their identity. Schemes should include promoting tribal art, medicine, and language education. 🪶
