Liverpool to sign Spain forward Victor Munoz
Liverpool, June 19
Liverpool FC have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.
The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, completed a medical examination at the country's base in Tennessee, USA and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract, according to the Liverpool website.
Munoz is the first new addition since the arrival of head coach Andoni Iraola and will link up with his new teammates later this summer after his participation in the tournament with his national team has concluded.
The 22-year-old has two caps for Spain and marked his debut against Serbia in March with a goal.
The international recognition came after an outstanding season with Osasuna in which he made 34 appearances, scoring seven times and claiming five assists in all competitions.
Munoz moved to Los Rojillos last summer from Real Madrid, for whom he made four appearances after graduating from their youth set-up, having previously been with the academy of his hometown club, FC Barcelona.
The attacker is set to be involved in Spain's second World Cup group-stage game on Sunday when they take on Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.
Munoz is the second addition to the Reds' playing squad ahead of 2026-27, after a deal was agreed for the acquisition of Jeremy Jacquet earlier this year.

Another Spanish talent heading to Anfield! 🇪🇸🔴 The Barça academy background is interesting - he clearly has good technical foundation. Young, already capped for Spain at 22, and showed promise at Osasuna. Hope he gets proper game time and doesn't end up loaned out for years like some Liverpool youngsters. The work permit issue needs sorting quickly though.
Seems like a smart piece of business by Liverpool - young player with upside, reasonable price presumably from Osasuna. But I have reservations about signing players based on World Cup performances. One good tournament shouldn't be the sole reason. Let's see how he does against Saudi Arabia first before getting too excited. The medical already done is a good sign though.
Finally Liverpool making some moves in the transfer market! 🙌 Been following Munoz since his Real Madrid days - he has that classic Spanish technical ability and can play across the front line. Only 4 appearances for Madrid but performed well at Osasuna. The fact he already scored on Spain debut shows mentality. Fingers crossed the work permit comes through smoothly.
As a Liverpool fan, I'm cautiously optimistic but also a bit skeptical. We've had mixed success with Spanish forwards - Torres was world class, but others didn't quite work out. Munoz is young and talented but 7 goals in 34 games for Osasuna isn't exactly screaming "world beater". Hope he proves me wrong! At least the club is backing Iraola's vision. This won't be cheap either.
