Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed visits seasonal art exhibitions at Louvre Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, January 26
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has visited the seasonal art exhibitions organised by Louvre Abu Dhabi in collaboration with several leading international cultural institutions, including France Museums, the Musee du Louvre, the Musee National Picasso-Paris.
During the visit, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed has viewed a selection of artworks that document diverse historical and civilisational milestones, highlighting the evolution of applied arts, architecture, ornamentation and calligraphy, alongside exhibitions tracing the development of modern art, and the transformations of artistic styles and movements throughout the history of visual arts.
The exhibitions feature works on loan from local, regional, and international cultural institutions and collections, reflecting the diversity of artistic schools and creative practices across cultures. They contribute to enriching the region's cultural landscape while showcasing the interaction between global artistic influences and the cultural specificity of the Arab world.

Impressive. The UAE is really investing in becoming a global cultural hub. I remember visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi – the architecture itself is a masterpiece. Highlighting calligraphy and ornamentation alongside modern art shows a beautiful, holistic view of art history.
While this is great for Abu Dhabi, I sometimes wish we saw more high-profile visits and investments in our own cultural institutions in India. We have millennia of art history that could be showcased on such a global platform. Our museums need that level of support and international collaboration.
The focus on "cultural specificity of the Arab world" interacting with global influences is key. It's not about one dominating the other, but a dialogue. Art is a universal language that can teach us so much about coexistence. A very positive news story.
Good to see leadership taking a personal interest in arts and culture. It sends a strong message about its importance to society. The collaboration with Musée du Louvre and others is top-tier. Hope it inspires more young artists from the region and from India too!
