"Bengaluru carrying early momentum and Chennai under pressure to respond - Match Preview"

Bengaluru, April 4

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will aim to build on a strong start to their title defence when they face Chennai Super Kings in the second game of Sunday's Indian Premier League double-header at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB began their campaign on a positive note with a convincing home win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Opting to field first, they kept the visitors in check at 201, with Jacob Duffy and Romario Shepherd playing key roles by picking up three wickets apiece.

The chase was handled with authority, as Devdutt Padikkal's explosive 61 off just 26 deliveries, along with an unbeaten 69 from Virat Kohli, guided Bengaluru to a six-wicket victory with plenty of overs remaining.

In contrast, Chennai Super Kings are still searching for their first win of the season after back-to-back setbacks. They were initially outplayed by the Rajasthan Royals and then suffered another defeat at home against the Punjab Kings.

Despite posting a formidable 209, CSK were unable to defend the total, as Punjab chased it down comfortably with contributions from Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya, sealing the result with time to spare.

With Bengaluru carrying early momentum and Chennai under pressure to respond, the encounter sets up as a crucial early-season test for both sides.

As a CSK fan living abroad, the 7:30 PM IST start is perfect for me on JioHotstar. But the team needs to sort out its bowling, 209 should be defendable. Hoping Thala Dhoni has some magic left to turn this around. Whistle Podu!

Padikkal's innings was a treat to watch! So clean hitting. But a respectful suggestion for the article - the squad lists seem a bit mixed up? Sanju Samson in CSK? I think there might be a small error there. Otherwise, great preview for the big match!

Classic IPL drama! The defending champions flying high vs the struggling giants. This is why we love this tournament. Booked my tickets the moment they went on sale. Nothing beats watching Kohli bat live in Bengaluru. 🇮🇳

Pressure is squarely on Ruturaj and CSK now. Two losses at the start can really hurt the campaign. Their middle order needs to step up. Still, never count CSK out. Sunday's match is a must-win for them.

Star Sports and Hotstar - perfect. Can watch with family on TV or stream on my phone. Hoping for another Kohli special, but also want to see our Indian youngsters like Patidar and Padikkal shine. May the best team win! 🤞
