Integrated railway overbridge to replace three railway crossings in Rewari
Chandigarh Augus, t 3
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday approved the construction of an Integrated Railway Overbridge in Rewari district to replace three busy railway level crossings, paving the way for a permanent solution to the city's long-standing traffic congestion caused by frequent closure of railway gates.
The approval was accorded at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in Chandigarh. The project is expected to ensure smoother, safer and uninterrupted movement of traffic while significantly easing congestion in the city. Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa also remained present on this occasion.
The ambitious project, to be executed by the Haryana State Roads and Bridges Development Corporation (HSRDC), entails an estimated investment of Rs 207.29 crore, a release said.
Once completed, the project will eliminate delays caused by the repeated closure of railway level crossings, enabling seamless movement of vehicles across the city. It is expected to benefit daily commuters, students, traders and emergency services such as ambulances and fire brigades.
The project includes the construction of two-lane and four-lane railway overbridges, along with Road Under Bridges (RUBs), service roads and other supporting infrastructure at designated locations. The separation of road and rail traffic is expected to substantially reduce the risk of accidents and significantly enhance road safety.
Besides easing traffic congestion in Rewari, the project is expected to reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs while improving regional connectivity. It is also likely to provide a major boost to industrial, commercial and urban development, thereby contributing to the district's long-term economic growth.

Rs 207 crore is a substantial investment. I hope they ensure proper quality construction and timely completion. Sometimes these projects get delayed for years. Also, need proper drainage systems in the underpasses to avoid waterlogging during monsoons like we see in other cities.
This is what development looks like! 🙌 The benefit to ambulances and fire brigades cannot be overstated. In emergency situations, every minute counts and these railway gates were literally costing lives. Haryana is progressing well under the current leadership.
Good infrastructure news from Haryana. I've visited Rewari a few times and the traffic situation there is indeed chaotic, especially during peak hours. Separating road and rail traffic is the only permanent solution. Hope the HSRDC executes this efficiently and within the allocated budget.
As a student who travels to coaching daily, this is wonderful news! Those railway crossings used to eat up so much of our study time. Also good for the traders - goods transport will become much faster. Rewari is an important industrial hub and this will boost our local economy. 👌
A much-needed infrastructure upgrade. However, I do hope they consider pedestrian safety as well, with proper footpaths and lighting on the overbridge. Also, the service roads need to be well-designed so they don't become parking spots. But overall, this is a positive step for Rewari's urban development.
