The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered the production of the original trust deed of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla. Shimla, July 17

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the production of the original trust deed of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla in connection with an ongoing investigation into two FIRs, while hearing a batch of connected matters on Thursday.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin C Negi passed the direction while hearing Sheetal Vyas vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others along with the connected criminal writ petition.

The Bench took on record status reports filed by the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station West, Shimla, stating that investigations into the FIR of 2024 and of 2024 are still in progress.

According to the status report, the investigating agency had earlier obtained only a certified copy of the trust deed from Lalit Verma, while the original document has not yet been produced for verification.

The police informed the court that a notice under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) had been served on Verma directing him to produce the original trust deed and other relevant records. After the notice was not complied with, another notice was issued through the competent Magistrate.

During the hearing, Amit Singh Chandel, counsel appearing for the petitioners in the connected criminal writ petition, submitted that the original trust deed would be produced before the court on the next date of hearing.

Taking the statement on record and noting that the matter has remained pending for a considerable period, the Division Bench directed that the original trust deed be produced at the next hearing.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on July 28, 2026.

The Brahmo Samaj has a long history in Shimla. This trust deed case seems like a family or property dispute. Let the court sort it out legally. But why is it taking so long? The FIRs are from 2024 and still under investigation... 🤔

Section 94 BNSS notice ignored? That's serious. If someone is not complying with court orders, there should be consequences. Otherwise, what's the point of the law? Let's see if the original deed actually appears on July 28.

Interesting legal case. The fact that the police only had a certified copy suggests verification is needed. Trust deeds can have significant implications for property and administration. The delay until 2026 is puzzling though - why so long?

I've seen how trust disputes can tear families apart. The Himalayan Brahmo Samaj is a respected institution. I hope the court gets to the bottom of this quickly and fairly. Shimla's heritage institutions deserve better than prolonged legal battles.

Why is the hearing set for July 28, 2026? That's two years away! Indian courts are overburdened, but this delay doesn't inspire confidence in timely justice. The parties involved must be frustrated. 😔
