Good gesture by the PM. Thiruvalluvar's wisdom belongs to all of humanity, not just Tamil Nadu. Verses on righteousness (Aram) and love (Kāma) are especially profound. Hope this encourages more translations and discussions in schools nationwide.

While the tribute is welcome, I hope such appreciation for Tamil culture and language is reflected in consistent policy support and funding, not just symbolic posts on special days. The sentiment needs to be backed by action.

As someone new to Indian culture, this prompted me to look up the Tirukkural. The couplets on friendship and virtue are incredibly universal and beautiful. It's amazing how ancient texts can feel so relevant today.

Proud Tamilian here! Valluvar's teachings are our pride. Glad to see his day getting national recognition. "யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்" - The whole world is our kin. This ideal of universal brotherhood is what we need now more than ever.

The emphasis on the text's universal values transcending religion and geography is spot on. In a divided world, ancient wisdom that focuses on common human ethics and compassion is worth revisiting. A thoughtful tribute.
