"Strengthening at booth level": Rahul Gandhi to interact with TN Congress leaders on final day of training camp
Chennai, August 1
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Chennai on Saturday, with senior state Congress leaders, cadres, and state ministers gathered at the airport to receive him.
The Congress leader is visiting to participate in the concluding session of a 10-day training camp for Tamil Nadu Congress District Presidents being held in Mahabalipuram.
Speaking to ANI, Tamil Nadu Minister and Congress leader S Rajesh Kumar stated that the visit aims to boost the party's grassroots presence.
"Tamil Nadu Congress District Presidents' training camp has been continuing in Mahabalipuram, and today marks its tenth and final day. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi is visiting to interact with the district presidents and discuss ways to strengthen the party. The focus will be on building the party at the village level and booth level," Rajesh Kumar said.
The Minister emphasised that the discussions will cover a wide range of organisational and electoral strategies.
"Discussions will also cover the party's growth, the upcoming local body elections and Parliamentary elections, strategies to take the party to the grassroots, address people's issues effectively, and ensure that government welfare schemes reach the public," he added.
According to Rajesh Kumar, these training modules are a standard post-election practice for the party across the country.
"Training camps like this are conducted in every state after elections, with around seven participants from each unit. These camps last for ten days, and it has been Rahul Gandhi's practice to participate in them. During his visit, he will address the participants," the leader noted.
State Minister P Viswanathan and other senior functionaries were also present at the airport to welcome the Congress MP.

Rahul Gandhi's dedication to party building is commendable. Coming all the way to Mahabalipuram for a training camp shows he's serious about strengthening Congress at the booth level. But talk is cheap — I want to see actual results in the upcoming local body elections. The Dravidian majors won't make it easy.
This is a good move by Rahul ji. TN Congress has been struggling for a while now, and focusing on booth-level organisation is the right way to rebuild. The training for district presidents is essential — they're the ones who know the local issues best. Let's hope the party acts on these strategies.
Good to see Rahul Gandhi investing time in Tamil Nadu. The state has always been a stronghold for regional parties, but Congress can still make inroads if they concentrate on local issues like water, education, and welfare schemes. The booth-level focus is spot on.
Rahul Gandhi's visits to TN are frequent, but Congress's presence in the state remains weak. Training camps are fine, but the party needs a clear strategy to counter the Dravidian parties. Focusing on booth-level is good, but without strong local leadership, it won't work.
🙌 Rahul Gandhi's commitment to grassroots politics is impressive. Attending a 10-day training camp's final session shows he's not just about photo ops. Building the party from the booth level is the only way Congress will rise again in Tamil Nadu.
